Calculate your day like this: subtract the transfers, subtract lunch, subtract the queues at the two entrances, and divide what’s left in half. No operator can give you extra time. They can only take the guide and parking off your mind.

Separate days
The third option is the one no one sells as a package: Pompeii on your own, and Mount Vesuvius separately. If you’re staying or spending the day near the ruins, from the Circumvesuviana station in Pompeii there’s a three-hour transfer that includes the crater ticket and leaves you about an hour and a half free at the summit: more time on the mountain than any combined day trip allows. How much time do you actually spend at Vesuvius?
In the self-guided option, the operator states around 100 minutes at Vesuvius and about two and a half hours in Pompeii. Consider that from the parking lot to the crater rim, it takes twenty-five to thirty minutes to climb, plus the descent: see how long the climb takes.
Is there a single ticket for both sites?
